2026-2027 Welcome Back Letter to Parents, Guardians, and Students

Posted Date: 07/09/26 (12:12 PM)

Dear Jefferson-Morgan Students, Parents, and Guardians,

I hope you and your family are enjoying a wonderful summer. Whether you've spent your time traveling, cheering on your children at the ballfield, relaxing by the pool, or simply enjoying time together, I hope it has been filled with moments that will last long after summer ends.

As much as we all enjoy summer, there is something special about the beginning of a new school year. Every August brings a fresh start, new opportunities, and another chance to learn, grow, and make a positive difference in the lives of others. On behalf of our Board of School Directors, faculty, staff, and administration, I am excited to welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year.

This year, our district will be guided by one simple theme:
Be the Person They Need
Someone did it for us. Now it's our turn.

These words serve as a reminder that every one of us has the opportunity to make a lasting impact on someone else's life. Each of us can think back to a teacher, coach, bus driver, family member, or mentor who believed in us, challenged us, encouraged us, or simply showed us kindness when we needed it most. Those moments often shape who we become.

Now it's our turn.

At Jefferson-Morgan, we believe every student deserves someone in their corner. Someone who believes in them, encourages them, supports them, and challenges them to become the very best version of themselves. While strong relationships are the foundation of everything we do, we also believe our students deserve to be challenged academically, creatively, and personally. We want every student to leave our schools better prepared for whatever path they choose after graduation.

Our commitment remains unchanged. We will continue to do Whatever It Takes to ensure every student realizes their potential and experiences both personal development and academic success.

One of the things that makes me most proud to serve as your superintendent is the incredible dedication of our faculty and staff. Every day, I have the privilege of watching teachers, support staff, administrators, bus drivers, cafeteria employees, custodians, secretaries, coaches, and so many others go above and beyond for our students. They invest countless hours preparing engaging lessons, supporting students through challenges, celebrating their successes, and creating an environment where every child feels welcomed, valued, and cared for. Their passion for serving students and their commitment to this community are what truly make Jefferson-Morgan such a special place.

One of my favorite parts of every school year is watching the journey begin once again. This fall, we proudly welcome our newest Rockets as they begin their educational experience in Pre-K and Kindergarten. At the same time, the Class of 2027 begins its final year at Jefferson-Morgan as they prepare for graduation and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead. It is remarkable to think about everything that happens between those first days of school and walking across the graduation stage. Every lesson, every challenge, every friendship, and every opportunity helps shape the adults our students will become.

Although our buildings may have been quieter this summer, they certainly have not been empty. Throughout the summer months, our staff has been preparing classrooms, maintaining our facilities, updating technology, planning engaging instruction, organizing transportation, and getting everything ready to welcome students back. Their work behind the scenes ensures that our schools are ready to provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment on the very first day of school.

As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety, we are excited to introduce a new wearable panic button system for all district employees this school year. This technology allows staff members to quickly and discreetly request assistance during emergencies, providing first responders and administrators with immediate location information to ensure the fastest possible response. While we hope this system is never needed, it represents another important investment in protecting our students and staff. Combined with our School Police Officers, secure entrances, visitor management procedures, security camera system, and regular emergency preparedness training, this enhancement reflects our continued commitment to providing the safest possible learning environment for every Rocket.

Thank you for the trust you place in us each day. Educating children is truly a partnership between our schools, our families, and our community. Together, we will continue building a school district where every student is known, challenged, supported, and inspired to succeed.

I cannot wait to see our halls filled with students once again. Here's to another outstanding year of learning, growth, and opportunity.

It's Always a Great Day to Be a Rocket!
