The Jefferson-Morgan Weekend Food Program (WFP) is a program that benefits the neediest of students in our Elementary and Middle/High school. The program participants are chosen by a team of school officials and student names are kept confidential.

WFP food bags are packed bi-weekly and discretely placed into participant lockers at the end of the day, on the last day of the each week. The bags are kept under 5 pounds so they are easily carried by the Elementary students. The district includes fresh produce with the bags along with child-friendly items that can be cooked or prepared easily. The WFP is funded by local donations and consists of enough food for 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, and 2 snacks for each student.

 

Below is a list of the types of items that would typically be in a WFP bag.

  • Pasta, Canned (ravioli, spaghetti, etc)
  • Soup, Canned
  • Soup, Ramen Noodle or Cup O’ Soup
  • Ind. Fruit Cups (applesauce, Mandarin oranges, etc.)
  • Ind.  Pkg. Raisins, Craisins or other dried fruit
  • Pop Tarts
  • Cereal, Individual Bowls/Cups/Pouches
  • Juice Boxes, Bottles/Pouches
  • Milk (shelf stable only such as Hershey's)
  • Macaroni and Cheese (cups or box)
  • Peanut Butter, Individual cups
  • Bakery Items (honeybuns, muffins, etc.)
  • Snack Chips (pretzels, sun chips, etc.)
  • Oatmeal, Instant, Flavored
  • Cookies (ind. wrapped/packaged)
  • Breakfast Bars (cereal, nutri-grain, etc.)
  • Bagged Microwave Popcorn
  • Bagged Grahams
  • Jell-O Gelatin Cups
  • Cheese Sauce Cups (shelf stable)
